3.11 Substations: associated with LV connections

The proposal plan provided with your Quote indicates which of the following You are responsible for:

 GRP housing

  • The provision and installation of the GRP housing and its ongoing maintenance in perpetuity.

  • Ensuring that 24-hour unimpeded access is available for UK Power Networks staff and its contractors throughout the year.

GRP plinth

  • The construction of the plinth for the GRP housing, along with the associated earthing. The specification is indicated on the proposal plan provided with your Quote.

Or

Brick built substation 

  • The construction of a brick built substation located as shown on the proposal plan provided with your Quote.

  • The specification for the necessary civil works, along with the associated earthing. These details are indicated on the drawing provided with your Quote.

  • Ensuring that 24-hour unimpeded access is available for UK Power Networks staff and its contractors throughout the year.  

Or

Integrated substation 

  • The supply and construction of a building structure to accommodate an integrated substation located as shown on the proposal plan provided with your Quote.

  • The accommodation is to be available to UK Power Networks with adequate access at least 4 weeks prior to commencement of UK Power Networks' work.

  • You must test the installation on completion and provide a test certificate to the UK Power Networks Field Engineer dealing with the site.

  • The provision of a suitable plinth and associated civil works to accommodate the substation located as shown on the proposal plan provided with your Quote.

  • Ensuring that 24-hour unimpeded access is available for UK Power Networks staff and its contractors throughout the year.

Delivery of plant 

  • You must ensure a suitable hard standing surface is available from the public highway to the front of UK Power Networks substation that is adequate to support a 32 tonne road vehicle (crane lorry).

  • Please note that plant can only be delivered to site when a suitable hard standing surface is available.

Substation civil wokrs 

  • You must ensure all substation civil works are complete prior to the high voltage shutdown date. This date must be agreed with the 'on-site' Contracts Manager.

Energisation

  • Please remember that, due to Health and Safety reasons, the substation cannot be energised until all substation civil works are completed.
