All cables shown on the cable records must be exposed at the point of Connection (POC) position to allow positive cable identification, including access all-round the cables for identification using an approved signalling device.
To avoid the possibility of opening an HV cable, all LV cables will need to positively be identified. There are 3 methods of achieving this so the extent of the contestable work extends to all work required to allow positive identification. The methods are:
600v/1000v plastic embossed outer sheath of the cable.
Digging back along the cable to an existing service joint
Single cable shown on the cable plans which is clearly designated as being an LV cable and only one cable found at the work location.
